Yemen: trade volume with Arab states rises to YR 909 bln in 2010

The volume of mutual trade between Yemen and countries of the Arab Free Trade Zone increased in 2010 to YR909.6 billion by an increase of YR 103.8 billion from 2009 with a growth rate of 12.9 percent The value of Yemen's exports to the Arab Free Trade Zone countries ,namely (Jordan, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabi, Iraq, Kuwait, Morocco, Tunisia, Syria, Oman, Qatar, Lebanon, Libya and Egypt), reached YR 175.5 billion in last year, compared with YR 163.7 billion in 2009, according to the data issued by the Central Organization of Statistics (COS). The data indicated that the value of Yemen's imports of food commodities, electronics, furniture, clothing, fabrics, equipments, spare parts and others from those countries amounted to over YR 734 billion in 2010, recording a rise of YR 92 billion from the value of imports in 2009, after it had reached YR 966 billion in 2008.The UAE topped the list of Arab states who import Yemeni commodities, especially fish, agricultural products ,honey and coffee, by a value of YR 87 billion, followed by Saudi Arabi by a value of YR 53.5 billion, Kuwait by YR 12.9 billion and Egypt by YR 9.4 billion. According to the date, the trade balance between Yemen and the Arab Free Trade Zone countries reached YR 558.6 billion in 2010 for the benefit of those countries, compared with YR 478.2 billion in the previous year.
