The Preparatory Committee for the Supreme Coordinating Council of Hadrami political and social forces and components held its second meeting today, Monday, July 20, 2026, in Al-Mukalla.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Salem Ahmed Al-Khanbashi, member of the Presidential Leadership Council, Governor of Hadramawt, and head of the Preparatory Committee. This meeting was part of the ongoing preparations for the Council's founding general conference.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mr. Salem Al-Khanbashi, head of the Preparatory Committee, reviewed the committee's accomplishments since its first meeting. He noted that the members of the Preparatory Committee are performing their duties in their independent personal capacities as Hadrami political and social figures, without any party or organizational representation. Their responsibilities include preparing the reference documents for the founding general conference, establishing the organizational foundations of the Council, drafting a code of conduct, approving the Hadrami political vision and project, and building a unified Hadrami front under the slogan "Hadramawt First." He commended the committee members for their sense of responsibility and cooperation in fulfilling their assigned tasks, and stressed the importance of continuing to work at a rapid pace to finalize the founding documents according to the approved timeline.
Regarding security, Al-Khanbashi emphasized that the mobilization and movements undertaken by the Houthi militias, supported by the Iranian regime, necessitate the highest levels of vigilance and preparedness. He stressed the need to direct all military and security agencies in the Hadramawt coast and valley to raise their combat readiness and strengthen precautionary measures to ensure a firm response to any threat or attack targeting the security and stability of Hadramawt, and to preserve the security and military achievements attained. He also expressed his deep sorrow for the martyrdom of a number of members of the Homeland Shield Forces in the terrorist operation that targeted them in the Ramah area, offering his condolences to the families of the martyrs and wishing a speedy recovery to the wounded. He emphasized the necessity of pursuing the criminal elements involved and bringing them to justice to receive their due punishment, and of preventing any entity or individuals from threatening public order or compromising the security of Hadramawt.
The meeting discussed and approved the minutes of the first meeting after reviewing the implementation of its decisions and recommendations and assessing the progress made on various tasks. This ensures the completion of the preparatory phase requirements according to the approved timeline.
The committee also reviewed the observations and suggestions submitted by its members regarding the documents referred from the first meeting, most notably the draft bylaws for convening the founding general conference, the organizational regulations, and the council's general structure.
The meeting further discussed the draft Hadrami vision and the political project of the Supreme Coordinating Council, considering them as reference documents that will outline the council's general direction and reflect the aspirations of the people of Hadramawt. This will strengthen the path of consensus and partnership and serve the higher interests of Hadramawt. The committee decided to form two subcommittees, one political and one legal, to incorporate the observations, prepare the final drafts of these documents, and submit them to the preparatory committee for approval before presenting them to the founding general conference. The committee also approved guidelines for media discourse and messaging during the preparatory period, considering them the guiding principles for managing the council's media and political discourse during this phase. This aims to unify media messages, regulate public discourse, enhance consistency in statements and positions, and solidify the council's image as a comprehensive, consensus-based framework that reflects the will of the people of Hadramawt and operates with a spirit of responsibility, partnership, and consensus.
The committee appointed Dr. Abdul Aziz Saleh Jaber as the official spokesperson for the preparatory committee.
At the conclusion of its meeting, the committee affirmed its commitment to finalizing the founding documents and implementing the approved timeline. This will ensure optimal preparation for the founding general conference and enhance its success in achieving the objectives for which the Supreme Coordinating Council of Hadrami Political and Social Forces and Components was established.
