The President's Cultural Advisor Abdul Aziz al-Maqaleh attributed on Monday the decline in the Arabic language level to the deficiency situation in the public education and the media omission for its key role to promote the national language.
The current situation of the Arabic language has fallen to the minimum level, not only on the masses' tongues but also on the tongues of the intellectuals and university graduates, al-Maqaleh pointed in the celebration of Arabic Language Day organized by Yemen Center of Studies and Research in cooperation with the Yemeni National Commission for Education, Cultural and Science. He affirmed that what happens to the Arabic language now is a real reflection of the Arab nation's suffering in its social, economic and political conditions.Al-Maqaleh added that what is causing the greatest sense of concern is that the Arabic language in many schools of the Arab countries is no longer among the materials of success and failure, as if we are coming to abandon our national language ultimately, the language of the Koran, culture, knowledge and science. He noted to the role of the first pioneers from the innovators in thought, literature and language fields, and how they were able to harmonize between learning the foreign languages and mastering their mother tongue.
