Primary and secondary school students in Hadhramaut Governorate, both coast and valley, headed to their schools on Sunday morning for the first day of the new 2025/2026 academic year, amidst an atmosphere of enthusiasm and activity.
The schools opened their doors fully prepared, with education offices in the coast and valley confirming their full readiness for the new academic year.
The Governor of Hadhramaut, Mr. Mabkhot Mubarak bin Madi, inaugurated the new academic year today. As part of his ongoing monitoring of the educational process, the Governor inspected the attendance of students for the first semester at Sayyida Aisha Elementary School for Girls and Al-Khansa School for Boys, marking the start of the new academic year. He was accompanied by the Director of the Ministry of Education Office in Hadhramaut Coast, Mr. Amin Abdullah Baabad, and leaders of educational work and political factions, who unanimously agreed on the importance of ensuring the smooth running of the educational process. Governor Bin Madi praised the discipline and well-preparedness of the schools, affirming the continued full support of the local authority for the educational process to ensure its success and the achievement of its goals. He also commended the efforts of school administrations and teachers, who represent the cornerstone in building the future of future generations.
The number of students for the new 2025/2026 academic year across Hadhramaut is 324,082, including 167,285 male students and 156,797 female students. Of these, 273,658 are in primary school and 198,699 are in secondary school, distributed across 886 primary and secondary schools.
The number of students enrolled in schools along the Hadhramaut coast is 178,690, including 89,286 male students and 89,404 female students, including 148,275 in primary school and 178,690 in secondary school, distributed across 458 primary and secondary schools. The number of male and female students in the Hadhramaut Valley and Desert is 145,392, including 77,999 male students and 67,393 female students, including 125,383 in primary school and 20,009 in secondary school, distributed across 428 primary and secondary schools.
