Hadhramaut Governor Hassan Salem Al-Jilani launched today in Mukalla a humanitarian relief campaign provided by the sisterly Sultanate of Oman for the most needy families in Hadhramaut Governorate. The campaign, "Food Aid Distribution Program for the People of the Hadhramaut Coast," is provided by the Oman Charitable Organization in cooperation with the Islamic Cultural and Social Charitable Society in Mukalla.
The launch was held under the patronage of Hadhramaut Governor Mubkhot Mubarak bin Madi, and in the presence of representatives of the Oman Charitable Organization, headed by the organization's acting CEO, His Excellency Dr. Badr bin Mohammed Al-Zaabi. The Omani aid, now in its 22nd consecutive year, targets more than 27,000 needy families in five districts on the Hadhramaut coast: Al Mukalla, Ghayl Bin Yamin, Ghayl Bawazir, Brom Mayfa, and Hajar. The total cost is $950,000. This aid falls within the framework of the Sultanate of Oman's humanitarian efforts to alleviate the burden of the living crisis our country is experiencing. This year, it addresses the needs of needy families during the final days of the holy month of Ramadan, based on the bonds of brotherhood and good neighborliness. The campaign includes basic commodities such as rice, flour, oil, and sugar, aiming to meet the needs of the most vulnerable families. The Undersecretary of Hadhramaut Governorate, Mr. Hassan Al-Jilani, conveyed the greetings of the Governor of Hadhramaut, Mr. Mabkhout Mubarak bin Madi, and the appreciation of the local authority in Hadhramaut for the humanitarian role of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman. He described the campaign as a vital step in helping thousands of needy families, praising the interventions of our brothers in the Sultanate of Oman and their keenness to provide annual Omani food aid.
He pointed out that this year, the aid coincides with the end of the holy month of Ramadan to address the needs of the people and those targeted in light of the difficult living conditions and circumstances. He stressed that this aid is appreciated by the leadership of the local authority in Hadhramaut Governorate, based on its significant impact on the beneficiary families, and its assistance in meeting their basic needs. During the launch ceremony, His Excellency Dr. Badr bin Mohammed Al Zaabi, Acting CEO of the Oman Charitable Organization, emphasized that "this initiative is a continuation of the Sultanate's commitment to supporting needy families in Hadhramaut and alleviating their suffering.
It is an extension of its annual humanitarian project, which has consistently targeted needy families in the governorate, in implementation of the directives of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, Sultan of the sisterly Sultanate of Oman, and an extension of the approach of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said (may God rest his soul in peace). It also falls within the context of bilateral relations with our country, which receive the attention and interest of His Excellency President Dr. Rashad Mohammed Al Alimi, Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council." Professor Abdullah Mohammed Baharoon, Chairman of the Islamic Cultural and Social Charitable Society, explained that the distribution process will be conducted according to an organized mechanism to select the most needy cases across the targeted cities of Hadhramaut Coast. He noted that Omani aid will have an impact on the targeted groups, appreciating the support of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tariq, the Omani government, and the Oman Charitable Organization for adopting these annual charitable projects for the people of Hadhramaut. The inauguration was attended by the Secretary-General of the Islamic Association, Mr. Zain Salem bin Aqeel; the Director-General of the Association and Campaign Director, Dr. Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Sheikh Abu Bakr; and the Association's Financial Director, Engineer Faiz Ahmed bin Shamla.
