The leadership of the First Military Region and security services on Sunday tightened the security procedures in Wadi Hadramout province.
The move comes two days after al-Qaeda militants kidnapped and killed 14 soldiers near Shibam city in the eastern Hadramout province, while on their way from Sayoun city towards the Capital Sana'a.
The leadership of the military region and security services urged in a statement the citizens not to roam during the night in the road of Sayoun - Hota and in areas of Shibam, Abr, Wadian and Oqab in order to avoid the risks during the military and security acts against al-Qaeda terrorist elements in those areas.
The security procedures included the probation of carrying weapons in the main cities.
The statement called on drivers of various vehicles to carry the documents that prove the vehicle ownership and the owner identity and warned against the risks of driving the vehicles without licence plates.
It also warned the citizens of the infiltration of terrorist elements to their villages and farms, and advised them to not rent out apartments and houses to the treacherous terrorist elements, not cover them up and to report any terrorist elements in their areas so that the armed forces and security services pursue them with the support of popular committees and all honest citizens in order to purge Hadramout of the terrorists permanently.
The 14 soldiers were kidnapped from a public bus on Friday, while on their way from Sayoun city towards the Capital Sana'a.
The militants stopped the bus, checked the passengers' IDs and took the soldiers by force, then executed them. The bodies were left on the road.
The soldiers in civilian clothes were returning home from duty, on leave after serving in the area.
The accident came a day after a terrorist attack on the camp. The attack was thwarted and 8 terrorists were killed, while two soldiers were killed and three others wounded.
The attack was an apparent act of revenge for a recent army crackdown in the area. The armed and security forces have killed at least 25 al-Qaeda militants in a series of confrontations in the Wadi Hadramout area in the past week.
