Yemen, Russia confirm mutual keenness to boost bilateral relations

Prime Minister Mohamed Salem Basindwa received on Monday the Russian delegation, who is currently visiting Yemen led by Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media Alexei Volin. In the meeting, the two sides confirmed the mutual keenness to boost the distinct relations linking the two friendly peoples at all official and popular levels so as to serve the common interests.
Basindwa stressed the importance of strengthening and expanding the bilateral cooperation to include all aspects, including the service sector. He noted to the significant role that could be played by the Russian friends in supporting the government's plan to rise up the electricity and energy sector in Yemen.
He voiced his confidence in the Russian side's understanding of the current situation experienced by Yemen and its keenness to contribute positively to supporting the Yemeni people in this phase through the gate of investment and development.
The prime minister praised the agreements reached between the two countries during this visit, and highly appreciated the Russian positions towards the Yemeni people.
For his part, the Russian official affirmed that the current visit aimed to strengthen the bilateral relations, especially in the economic investment and trade areas, pointing to the good results of the visit.
He explained that it was agreed upon preparing a map of priority projects by Yemeni side in order to be studied by both sides during the upcoming visit of the Yemeni economic and commercial delegation to Moscow in August and then starting of implementation steps jointly.
Volin said that Russia and Russian businessmen understand the situation currently witnessed by Yemen and they have sincere desire to invest in the areas of oil and gas exploration and production, electricity and energy, telecommunications and other sectors available in Yemen.
Yemeni-Russian cooperation relations in the developmental and economic areas and the government's steps in encouraging the cooperation and partnership between the private sector in the two friendly countries were also discussed during the meeting.
