Gov't ratifies setting up 2011 human rights violations committee

The cabinet approved on Tuesday a republican decree draft on establishing a committee to investigate 2011 human rights violations The committee is responsible for probing into the allegations of violations of human rights and international humanitarian law that were occurred in 2011 impartially and independently. During its weekly meeting chaired by Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa, the cabinet commissioned the Ministers of Legal Affairs and Human Rights to finalize the issuance procedures. It also approved a republican decree draft deciding Taiz governorate as a cultural capital of Yemen. Furthermore, the cabinet ratified a republican decree draft on reorganize Mukalla Fish Canning Factory (Al Gwaizi) in Hadramout governorate. The state-owned Mukalla factory founded in November 30, 1979 is one of the tributaries of the national economy in Yemen. It assists in achieving economic and productivity development programs in the fisheries and food security fields The cabinet also approved a republican decree draft reorganizing the Supreme Commission for Drugs and Medical Supplies.Finally, the cabinet endorsed a grant agreement signed between the Yemeni government and the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED). Under the agreement, the KFAED grants Yemen $ 6 million from the resources of the Decent Life Resources Department, an organization devoted to helping Islamic countries in need.
