Hadi elected as Yemen new president

The Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER) said Friday that Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi has been elected as a new Yemeni president.
The Supreme Commission for Elections and Referendum (SCER) Chairman Mohammad Hussein al-Hakimi told a news conference that Hadi won 99.8 percent of voters.

Hadi was born in 1945, in Thukain village in Abyan province.
He graduated in 1966 after receiving a military scholarship to study in Britain.
In 1970, when he was 25 years old, he joined the army of South Yemen.
Then, in 1970, he received another military scholarship to study tanks in Egypt for six years.
Hadi spent the following four years in Russia studying military commanding.
He occupied several military posts in the southern Yemen army.
He was promoted to general in 1991 after the unification of Yemen.
In May 1994, Hadi was appointed Minister of Defense.
In October 1994, he was appointed Vice President by republican decree.
