GCC studies opening office in Yemen, al-Zayani says

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) studies opening an office in Yemen, GCC Secretary General said on Tuesday in Riyadh.
During his meeting with Prime Minister Mohammed Salem Basindwa, Abdul Latif al-Zayani said that the office would strengthen coordination between Yemen, the GCC states and the General Secretariat.He accented that stabilizing the interior situation would accelerate returning the development and construction processes to Yemen, particularly in the sectors of electricity, roads and other services.The Prime Minister pointed to the importance of expediting the implementation of donor-funded projects, particularly those have suspended due to the crisis in areas of infrastructure and basic services.Moreover, Basindwa and al-Zayani discussed the coordination aspects between Yemen and the GCC General Secretariat several issues, topped by the arrangements for the next meeting of the Yemen's Friends Group to be held during the first quarter of 2012 in Riyadh.The meeting also dealt with the latest developments in the country and the achieved steps of the Gulf initiative up to now by all the signatory parties.
