OHCHR official briefed on Yemen's efforts to maintain human rights

Military Affaire Committee briefed on Sunday the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) on Yemen's efforts to maintain and protect human rights.
During its meeting with OHCHR Human Rights Official at the Middle East and North Africa Department Mohamed Kheir, the committee underscored that Yemen is with human rights and human values preservation. It asserted its commitment to the sound principles and the references that respect general freedom and the respect of the people and political powers' right to freedom of expression via peaceful marches provided they do not override laws and principles established by the ConstitutionThe committee said that it has formed, as mandated by the government, a panel of inquiry to investigate the events taken place on Saturday 24 December in the march came from Taiz province to the capital. It asserted that the panel began on Sunday 25 December its inquiry into all the criminal actions perpetrated against the march while moving the capital's streets, stressing that the panel would submit its finding report as soon as possible. The OHCHR official expressed his appreciation of the cooperation and facilities he has received during his meetings with the government's officials to be acquainted with the situation and last developments in Yemen.
