Qatar's withdrawal from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)'s initiative to address the Yemeni crisis will not affect the initiative, Omani official has said.
In an interview with the London-based Asharq Alawsat newspaper published on Monday, Omani Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs Yusuf bin Alawi said that the Gulf's initiative is in progress but needs much patience owing to the complexity of the Yemeni crisis.
Speaking on Yemen's accession to the GCC, Bin Alawi said that Yemen has requested to and we try to join it gradually because of the GCC's numerous commitments.
The GCC's States have prepared a program to develop Yemen's capacities to be able to hold a full membership in the GCC, Bin Alawi said.About $2.5 billion has been granted for development in Yemen but the amount has not been exploited well due to Yemen's circumstances, he added.
