Yemen partakes in Global Fund's Board to AIDS, TB, Malaria in Geneva

Yemen is participating in the 23rd meeting of the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis (TB) and Malaria which will last for two days as a representative of the Eastern Mediterranean Region.
During the meeting, Minister of Public Health and Population and member of the Board of Trustees Abdul-Karim Rase'a valued the support made by the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria for Yemen in the past five years achieved good results within the targets set for the fund.Rase'a made clear that success rate of the project provided by the region reached 73 percent at a cost of $165.9 million, including 18 million Euro as well as allocation of 594.085 Euro for workers.The volume of allocated support for the next five years reached $ 476.9 million and $ 29.4 million, Rase'a said.He pointed to the achieved goals of the program in the region, including Yemen, which witnessed the establishment of 14 therapeutic locations for Aids' patients.The minister pointed out that the states of Eastern Mediterranean region are witnessing political turmoil for several months which negatively affected the implementation of some health programs.He affirmed the need of taking into account the circumstances in those countries and assist them to provide medicines for patients and fulfill their obligations in this regard.
