Al-Suqatri: Marib power line attacks cost YR 2 bln losses

Minister of Electricity and Energy Awadh al-Suqatri said on Monday that electricity line of Marib-Sana'a and electricity pylons were subjected to 21 attacks during the past three months by elements of the Joint Meeting Parties (JMP), costing the state treasury around YR 2 billion.
In a statement to Al-Mithaq paper, the minister said that the repeated attacks led to negatively affecting the gas plant project in Marib which costs around $400 million.
He affirmed that the General Corporation for Electricity incurred major losses, in addition to repair costs estimated at YR 100 million, expressing displeasure with the JMP statements which accuse the government of creating electricity shortages.
