The first Philippine Honorary Consul in Yemen has been sworn into office by Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario who visited Yemen for the second time this year.
Mohammad Al-Jamal will head the Honorary Consulate which was established as the first ever Philippine honorary consular representation in Yemen.It will oversee and safeguard the 1,400-strong Filipinos and existing Philippine interests there, under the supervision of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh.The first time Del Rosario visited Yemen was on March 20, where he was briefed on ongoing politico-security developments and revalidated the Philippine Embassy team's contingency plan for the Filipino community.
