The European Union (EU)'s Foreign Policy Chief Catherine Ashton has welcomed the acceptance of the ruling party and opposition parties in Yemen for the GCC's initiative to address Yemen's crisis..

In her statement on Wednesday, Ashton valued the efforts made by the GCC to reach a political deal on peaceful transfer of power in Yemen.

The GCC initiative is a good step to meet the economic, social and security challenges faced by Yemen and to avoid the escalation of violence, she explained.Ashton urged the concerned authorities in Yemen to sign the initiative to ensure the preservation of the Yemeni people's interests   turn, Italy announced ,in a statement issued by Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, its support for the mediation initiative adopted by the GCC to end the political crisis in Yemen.The statement called on all political forces in Yemen to immediately apply the contents of the initiative
