Head of National Security warns of pirates' terror, not ruling out al-Qaeda

Head of the National Security Apparatus, the Director of the Presidency Office Ali Mohammed al-A'nisi on Wednesday warned of the terrorist acts implemented by pirates in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden. Al-A'nisi said the acts of piracy in the Gulf of Aden and entrances of the Red Sea are another form of terror, considering piracy operations perpetrated by some terrorist elements in the Somali regional waters as product of the situations Somalia is experiencing and internal disintegration and wars. The head of the National Security Organisation did not rule out that al-Qaeda organisation taking advantage of the situations in Somalia for practicing terrorist activities. He said al-Qaeda organisation had previously urged its elements to go to control outlets of the Red Sea and to transfer the battle to the sea as was that mentioned in one of its statements last April under what it called the " the sea terror is a strategic necessity". The security official made it clear that he Yemeni Coast Guard forces exert distinguished efforts in combating piracy acts and managed to rescue several ships, among them a Saudi ship that has been controlled lately. He said there is an international plan to increase supporting Yemen's efforts in combating terror, confirming the present support has not reached the required level. He added the matter requires more of regional and international economic support for curbing the phenomenon of poverty and speeding up of development as well as more cooperation for drying springs of terror.
