Yemen has achieved a trade surplus of YR 138.5 billion in the trade balance with China in 2010, compared to YR 166 billion for the benefit of Yemen in 2009, according to new official data. In 2010, the trade surplus of Yemen with China was negatively affected by the decline in trade between the two countries, as a result of the global economic crisis and its impact on the commercial traffic in the world, including Yemen and China. According to new statistics issued by the Central Organization for Control and Auditing (COCA), the volume of trade exchange between Yemen and China fell in 2010 to nearly Y.R 423.9 billion ,compared with YR 470.8 billion in 2009. The statistics pointed out that the value of Yemen's exports to China, including fish, coffee and honey, reached about YR 281.5 billion in 2010 recording a decrease of YR 37.2 billion from 2009.On the other hand ,Yemen's imports from China, which included electronics, textiles, furniture, food, construction materials, equipments and others, witnessed a significant decrease from about YR 152.7 billion in 2009 to YR 142.7 billion in 2010.The instability of Yemeni riyal exchange rate compared to foreign currencies has played a negative role ,as one of the factors contributing to the decline of the trade volume with many countries.
