14 soldiers injured in JMP riots

At least 14 soldiers were injured in riots by thousands of demonstrators as they were in an illegal march of the opposition Joint Meeting Parties (JMP) in Sana’a on Sunday, a security source has said.
Speaking to Saba, the source confirmed that the march was accompanied by riots and chaos, indicating that the demonstrators attacked a number of shops, including the commercial Libyan center and a restaurant at the Algeria Str. The security forces tried to persuade the marchers to return to their protest square at the Sana’a University. The source accused the demonstrators of attacking the security forces, wounding 14 soldiers."The riot police were forced to fire tear gas to disperse the demonstration and stop the riots", the source added.It also denied claims that the security forces had tried to storm a mosque where 20 demonstrators were inside, pointing out that they went out the mosque and the forces didn’t detain them.The source pointed out that the security forces had watched a group of gunmen as they were on the surface of the SabaFon, Yemen GSM Company for Telecommunication and Telephony, at al-Zubairy Str.
