The Supreme Council of the National Democratic Parties Coalition held a meeting on Sunday chaired by President Ali Abdullah Saleh that focused on the latest developments in the country and the crisis caused by the Joint Meeting Parties, the opposition, that aims to coup against democracy and the constitutional legitimacy.
The meeting approved the Council as a national leadership responsible for facing the current challenges in Yemen as it saluted the Yemeni people who voluntarily flooded into the capital Sana'a in the two last Fridays to show their support to the constitutional legitimacy and their firmed position toward Yemen's unity, stability and security. The Coalition held the opposition responsible for the current crisis and its negative impacts on the people and the national economy, saying the JMP were involved in banditry, road closures, attacks on power lines and inciting saboteurs to break law and commit destruction in some provinces including Saada, Jawf and Abayn. What the opposition is seeking comes within an exposed scheme to incite chaos and coup against the constitution through using all tools including media to distort the facts and fabricate to achieve their dirty agenda, the Coalition said. Any attempt to coup against democracy and the constitutional legitimacy is unacceptable and the people and their constitutional institutions will face it strongly, it said, condemning the involvement of children in political projects.
