The Swiss Company Rinadre Swiss will start preparing the technical studies for the Midhr dam project in Alayoon area Directorate of Ghail Bawazir during the first half of next October with a total cost of $3.5 million funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development. The governor of Hadramout Salim Ahmed ALkhanbashi was briefed today on the proposed site for the dam, and heard from the Director General of the Office of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation in the coast of Hadramout Mohamed Faraj Abdoun on the components of the project, which will take about seven million cubic meters of water from rainfall and floods. Mr Al-Khanbashi also noted the importance of the project, in the context of agricultural development project funded by the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development of $ 30 million and the great role the dam will play as on of the main sources to supply drinking water to the city of Mukalla as well as irrigation of approximately 700 hectares of agricultural land in the Directorate of Ghail Bawazir. For his part, Mr Al-Khanbashi pointed out to the attention paid by His Excellency President Ali Abdullah Saleh, President of the Republic,to the agricultural sector through the establishment of dams and water barriers.
