French utility giant GDF Suez SA (GSZ.FR) is continuing to receive LNG shipments as normal from Yemen, a spokesperson said Thursday in a statement.
"As of today, all deliveries took place as normal," a GDF Suez spokesperson said. Yemen has a 20-year contract with GDF Suez to supply liquefied natural gas to the French company, according to a report by the U.S. Energy Information Adminstration. The Yemen LNG plant at Balhaf area in the eastern province of Shabwa receives gas from Block 18 fields some 320-km inland in the Marib province through a buried pipeline. Capacity at the facility is 6.7 million tonnes, which is sold under three long-term contracts with GDF Suez, KOGAS and Total Gas & Power, with which the Yemeni government has recently been attempting to negotiate in order to get a better price for Yemen.
