STC approves tourism development executive program

The Supreme Tourism Council (STC) approved Monday the executive program for the tourism development plan. During
its meeting chaired by Prime Minister Ali Mujawar, the STC referred the
executive program to the cabinet for discussion and taking the
necessary decision. The program aims to develop the tourism
sector includes 49 projects, 44 of which are concerning tourism
development and five projects for strategic development, in addition to
the environmental and marketing studies. Moreover, the program
contains the executive visions for the projects' implementation,
standards of the economic evaluation and desired goals as well as the
promotion tourism plan, which is a complement part of the tourism
development plan's programs. The plan seeks for activating
tourism in the various sites and location in the country via providing
them with all the requisite tourism services, varying the tourism
product, encouraging small-scale enterprise establishment and including
the local society into the tourism industry. The meeting also
agreed initially on the tourism media strategy conditioned to be
revised by the ministries of information and tourism. Additionally,
the council asserted the importance of extending invitations by the
Minister of Foreign Affairs to ambassadors of the tourism-exported
European and Asian countries to attend a meeting with Ministers of
Interior and Tourism to brief them on the last security developments in
the country and to urge them to repeal or amend their countries'
warnings on travel to Yemen. The council also indicated to the
significant role the Yemeni embassies abroad should play to show the
safe and stable environment in the country and to promote the tourism
here by any possible mean.
