Agriculture council madates research centre to evaluate wheat

The Agricultural Coordination Council /Hadhramaut Valley mandated the
agricultural research station to evaluate the new variety of wheat
called (Moodah), doing the necessary testing to ensure its suitability so as to generalize it with the rest of items approved by the station. This came during the Board' discussion of a report at today's meeting chaired by the deputy govenor for the valley and the desert ,the Board Chairman, Mr/ Ahmed Jneid Aljunied. The report discussed the implementation results of the technological package for the production of wheat and their possible application during the next agricultural season 2008-2009. It also refered to the high quantities of the production of some varieties of wheat, during the last season , which amounted to seven tons per hectare in some farms in the valley . The Board also discussed a report on agricultural investment in Hadramout Valley and ways to attract more national and Arab investment capitals to tap on the available resources in the region and contribute to the provision of market requirements of products and various agricultural crops in addition to the Report on climate changes and their impact on the planting dates for the varieties of wheat and onions. Therfore they endorsed a discussion session to be held during the coming period to discuss the problems of agricultural investment and addressing many of the issues that drive the agricultural forward in cooperation with the branch offices of the General Investment and Agriculture Authority ,the Irrigation and Cooperative Union , the Agricultural Research Station and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Hadramout Valley.
