Head of the General Investment Authority Salah al-Attar met on Friday in Kuala Lumpur with Malaysian Deputy Minister of International Trade and Industry Mukhriz Mahathir Muhammad.
The meeting attended by Yemen's ambassador to Malaysia Abdullah al-Muntasir and head of the General Holding Corporation for Real Estate and Investment Development (Shibam Holding) Saad Sabra reviewed the Yemeni strategy for comprehensive economic development and incentives the authority offers for investors in areas such as industrial development, tourism, services sand education.It also discussed the possibility of setting up a joint mechanism by the authority and Malaysian institutions and agencies concerned with investment and industrial development for creating economic partnership, learning from Malaysian expertise and encouraging Malaysianinvestments in Yemen. Moreover, there was a focus on attracting qualified Malaysian companies to participate in implementing strategic projects in the fields of industrial development, mining and infrastructure in the country as well as the contribution of the Ministry of International Trade and Industry to encouraging giant Malaysian companies to have joint investments with Yemeni authorities including the General Investment Authority and the Shibam Holding. The two sides also reviewed opportunities Malaysian companies can have for investing in oil and gas production and exploration in Yemen.Mukhriz voiced the Malaysian ministry to provide all facilities for Malaysian companies to invest in Yemen as well as arranging for meetings between the Yemeni delegation, currently visiting Malaysia, and main Malaysian investment authorities.
