Govt approves procedures to establish Wadi Hadramout University

The Cabinet approved here on Tuesday the completion of legal and technical procedures for the establishment of Wadi Hadramout University.
This came within the implementation of the directives of President Ali Abdullah Saleh during his recent visit to the province of Hadramout to enhance the socioeconomic development in the province, including the treatments relating to accelerating the reconstruction of the damages resulted from the flood disaster in the province.In this respect, the cabinet mandated the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research to submit a draft law for the establishment of the university to the cabinet in its next meeting after submission to the Supreme Council of Universities.On another hand, the cabinet directed the Ministers of Electricity and Finance to study the available options for the establishment of a 350 mw gas-fueled station in Hadramout, either through the government funding or through an investment system by the private sector and businessmen from the province.In the same regard, the cabinet directed to identify the requirements of funding to link the electricity grid to the coastal districts of the Hadramout Valley.
