UNICEF to continue supporting rural water projects in Yemen

UNICEF Representative in Yemen Aboudou Karimou Adjibade affirmed on Tuesday the UNICEF's readiness to continue its support for rural water projects in Yemen.
During honoring him by the General Authority for Rural Water Projects, UNICEF Representative said that the organization's support for water sector comes from the awareness that water is a fundamental issue which in return will serve the development in the country.The UNICEF is to increase its support for rural water projects during 2010, he added.For his part, chairman of the authority Ali al-Suraimi made clear that the authority's honor for the UNICEF Representative is in recognition of the active role he played to prop up the rural water projects that carried out by the authority in Taiz, Ibb, Abyan, Dalei, Hodeidah and Hajjah during his tenure in Yemen.He also praised the UNICEF role which focuses on the humanitarian side, noting within the cooperative partnership framework between the two sides.The UNICEF has supported the authority through providing pipes and pumps for several projects as well as supplying it with information system and networking, he said.He also talked about the organization other services such as propping up the urgent projects related to the flood affected people in Hadramout and Mahrah and Sa'ada displaced people.
