Cabinet discusses progress in donors-funded projects

The cabinet discussed here on Tuesday a report submitted by Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation on the level of implementation of the projects , which are financed by donors pledges in London Conference held in 2006, until the end of 2009. The report pointed that the total of allocations of the donors' pledges since the London conference in 2006 till the last year, which amounted to over $5.7 billion, has reached 83 per cent (about $4.79 billion) of the total of those pledges.Moreover, the report indicated that the value of the finance agreements signed with the donors is about $3.28 billion out of the total value of the pledges.The productive and infrastructure sectors obtained rates of 1.5 per cent and 54 percent respectively, while the sectors of human development and social security net attained 19.1 per cent and 14.8 per cent in that order and the sector of good governance and institutional reforms got 7 per cent.In the same frame, the cabinet dealt with the implementation in the donors-funded projects in the sectors of transport, electricity and energy and the public works and roads.Furthermore, the report highlighted the remarkable development in the volume of allocations from the pledged amounts as well as the signed agreements with the donors to finance the projects.The cabinet affirmed the significance of constant reviewing for the progress in the externally funded projects to enhance the proper implementation factors and address the problems that may hinder or affect the implementation process.Additionally, the cabinet noted the importance of accelerating to approve and endorse the finance agreements for availing from the foreign funds to implement the projects.
