Saba to attend 37th FANA Assembly in Cairo

Yemen News Agency ' Saba' is set to take part in the 37th General Assembly of Federation of Arab News Agencies (FANA) which will take place in Egypt's capital, Cairo, starting Sunday
The four-day meeting will elect a new head of the federation, two deputies and members of the Secretariat-General.It will also review programs and activities implemented by the federation last year including the opening of a media training institute in Beirut, Lebanon's capital, the efforts by the Federation's Secretary General in financing the institute and supporting the UNESCO-and IPDC Sponsored FANA project to build the abilities of training institutions.The topics of a media honor pact for Arab news agencies and cooperation among them and their international counterparts, recommendations from the Federation Engineering Committee's meeting held in mid 2009 and new exchange among the agencies and the progress on the FANA website and the agencies' contribution to the website would be addressed at the meeting as well, Mustafa said.Heads of Arab agencies will also look into decisions and recommendations from the meeting of the Secretariat-General the meeting of the World Council of News Agencies, he said.The possibility of holding the fourth conference of agencies in one of Arab capitals in 2013 would be discussed also.Other topics to be addressed include the 2010 budget and approving it as well as programs and activities to be carried out in the future, he said.
