Yemen, Netherlands sign two agreements to support water sector

An agreement was signed here on Monday to support the Rural Water Projects Authority with YR 769.5 million ($1=YR206) within the frame of the additional Dutch support program 2009-2010. he agreement was signed by Minister of Water and Environment Abdul-Rahman al-Eryani and Director of the Rural Water projects Authority Ali al-Sarimi and the Dutch ambassador in Sana'a RH Buikeman.Al-Eryani praised the Dutch support to water sector in Yemen especially the rural water, affirming that the Dutch support program is an embodiment of the distinct relations between the two friendly countries.He urged the authority to search for new partners from the non-governmental organizations and private sector so as to take advantage of all potentials and capacities.For his part, the Dutch ambassador voiced his country's readiness to continue cooperation with the authority due to the positive results and the development seen in the authority performance.Al-Sarimi made it clear that about 82,904 people will benefit from the additional support in provinces of Taiz, Hodeidah, Ibb, Hajjah, Sana'a, Amran, Hadramout and Shabwa.He pointed that this support would contribute to the development of the authority institutional structure via building branch headquarters and a number of stores in some provinces.Another agreement of Dutch support to the Integral Administration of Water Resource for 2009 was also signed, with a total sum of YR 609.8 million.
