GPC praises success of by-elections

he General Secretariat of the General People’s Congress (GPC) has praised on Sunday success of the by-election for seats in vacant constituencies that were held on thus day 3 December 2009, considering the elections as have foiled battings of al the parties and forces that adopted misleading, falsification and instigation of disturbances and seditions as well as regionalist, secessionist and sectarian tendencies in addition to spreading the spirit of hatred among the society.
In its statement the GPC General Secretariat hailed the voters’ large turn- out. the masses large participation in the by-election have affirmed their clinging to democracy and elections as a sole means for peaceful transfer of power, confirming that the masses rally behind candidates of the GPC is another lesson added to previous ones the Yemeni people have given in every electoral round to those refusing the democratic approach and to any action enhances the democratic march and preservation of the national unity. The GPC General Secretariat has also affirmed that the Joint Meeting Parties isolated themselves from the masses of the people because of their practices and their tensed political address.The statement of the GPC General Secretariat added that those parties, instead of being keener on holding elections and taking part in them, have become evading from constitutional and democratic rights and resorting to ballot boxes.The GPC General Secretariat has also reiterated its adherence to democracy and dialogue as a civilized approach and means for tackling all issuers, calling parties of the political system to respond to the call launched by President Ali Abdullah Saleh fro serious dialogue on all that concerns the homeland under the ceiling of the constitution and preservation of the republic and the unit
