Japan grants Yemen over YR 16 mln for health unit in IBB

The government of Japan has decided to extend a grant amounting to YR 16,340,950 for a project of constructing health unit in Ba'adan district of Ibb governorate. A press release issued by the Japanese embassy in Sana'a said that the grant will be used for constructing a health unit in al-Harth sub-district, Ba'adan, Ibb governorate, which will provide basic health services for up to 20,000 beneficiaries.The press release showed that the Japanese government has provided, during the last Japanese fiscal year April 2008 – March 2009, grants for sixteen local entities and NGOs in the country with a total amount of more than $ 1.2 million.The new grant and the previous ones aim to under the scheme called "Grant Assistance for Grass-root Human Security Projects", which aims at supporting small-scale community-based projects in basic human need field, such as primary health care, basic education and drinking water supply in the developing countries.
