Yemen is set to build a new refinery in its port city of Aden which will replace the old one in a major effort to cope with the people's rising demand f for oil derivatives and to develop petrochemical industries. Currently, the Shoura council economic committee has started studies on the project, with head of the committee saying that the council is adopting the project under authorization from the Supreme Economic Council. The most important now is that we familiarize with the condition of the Aden Refinery to develop it, Ali Lutf al-Thawr said, adding that a partial development of the facility is underway as it has become inescapable due to its age. The committee has met with officials in Aden led by Governor Adnan al-Jafri and discussed proposals and visions to establish the new refinery. The replacement would be set up in the light of a study presented by the current refinery.
