The huge drugs stash seized on Wednesday off Yemen eastern province of Hadramout was on way to neighboring states, the Anti-Drugs Authority has said The one and more than a half ton drugs were seized off the Sher city on two fishing boats. The seizure was revealed on Friday. Seven people, including a Tanzanian and a Kenyan and five Yemenis, were held with the drugs. Drug dealers tried to escape when they saw Yemeni police heading toward them, but a short hunt occurred until the two boats were caught. It took 20 minutes during which policemen shot the engine of one of the two boats and then it was under control. The second boat did no escape and was easily captured. Investigations with the arrested are about to be completed and they would be turned over to judiciary. Sometimes drugs dealers bring their products to Gulf States through Yemen, but the Yemeni authorities are doing great against trafficking operations. Last month, the Anti-Drugs Authority destroyed an eighty three millions of dollars' worth of drugs. In recent years, many dealers, Yemenis, Arab and foreigners, went on trials on drugs trafficking charges. Some of the tried were sentenced to years in jail and a few others were sentenced to death.
