ADEN, Nov. 16(Saba) - The Yemeni port authority, Aden Seaport, has
welcomed the decision of the governmental international commission for
station sciences naming Aden Seaport to be a unique port to conduct
accurate studies and measures for tide phenomenon.
The commission established in Aden Seaport advanced equipment for early alarming of water catastrophes connected to satellites (AnmarSat), marine sources stated.
The commission is currently conducting studies for the potentialities of establishing identical equipment in Socotra Island, sources added pointingout that the decision of the commission was made following the Indonesian Tsunami of 2004.
The first tide measuring system was established at Aden Gulf in 1879.
