President directs Gov't to urgently preparing national strategy for local governance

President Ali Abdullah Saleh
confirmed Monday that the local authority system in Yemen is one of key elements in promoting development within a comprehensive national development framework of a state-building.
President Saleh added in local daily newspaper al-Mithaq in its editorial Monday that local authority system is one of major achievements has been made under the unity, which was achieved by Yemeni people in May 22, 1990 on the basis of democracy and pluralism. Meanwhile, President Saleh directed government in speeding up preparation of a national strategy for local governance on the basis of enhancing successes of local authority, expanding its powers and creating a transition into local governance with broad powers in line with the Yemeni society and its privacy practices.
