Undersecretary Hadhramout governorate for
coastal districts Mr. Awadh Abdallah Hatim called for more awareness and education for the citizens on the dangers of AIDS, with the individual and the community... He referred in his speech today to the participants in the awareness meeting organized by the National Program for health quarries, the national program to combat AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases. .Pointed to the need for the siege of the disease by dealing with transparency and clarity, especially when the area of Hadhramoutis so vast , in addition to that Yemen in general is bordered by African countries .and keeping silence on the issue could lead to an increasing number of cases which could spell disaster on the individual and society. He emphasized on the need to sensitize the community not bad feeling towards the AIDS patient, which may lead to reprisals, and called for concerted efforts as well to interact positively with the malignant disease to reduce its spread.
For his part, the Director of the Office of Public Health and Population, Dr. Al-bd Rabieh Ba-musa stressed that, the fight against AIDS is the duty and also the responsibility of everyone, pointing out some misconceptions some have about the disease in terms of transmission and contagion He also said that the statistics and numbers of people registered with the Ministry of Health is not yet known and called the community to deal transparently with an AIDS patient care and treat him as any other person in the community..On the hand Dr. Abdullah Mohammad Mowla dawila - Deputy Director of Health Program quarantine -Sanaa added on his word, where he said that the aim of the meeting is to integrate health-care programs and the definition of health workers with the quarantine centers and port of entries, the dangers of AIDS and its devastating effects ways how to with handle aids patients coming to the country from outside.
