Gulf delegations participate in donors meeting in Sana'a

A number of Arab and international delegations arrived here on Sunday to attend a meeting of donors countries to be held in Sana'a.The meeting would review the outcomes of the Donors Conference held in the British capital London in 2006.The delegations included deputy chairman of Saudi Fund for Development Yousif al-Bassam, Bahraini ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohammed Ali, Director General of Economic Relation Department of the Gulf Cooperation Council and Vice President of World Bank for Middle East and North Africa Daniela Gressani.Speaking to Saba, the Chairman of Saudi Fund said that Saudi Arabia and Yemen will sign three agreements, including a Saudi finance of the Sana'a-Aden highway and a $230 million grant for combating Malaria.For the GCC official, he said that his organization has a strong role to success this meeting, pointing out that GCC had provided 70 per cent of the total of the financial pledges which reached $1.200 billion for financing about 50 development projects in Yemen.For her part, the World Bank official described the Sana'a meeting as an important step for the country and its partners in development as well as a great opportunity to discuss several issues relating to the level of achievement of the pledges.During the last three years, the World Bank has granted $420 million to finance education, health, roads and water projects and the social security in Yemen, Gressani, confirming that the bank will provide about $480 million over four coming years
