YCB studies requests of opening new banks

Central Bank of Yemen (CBY) has received three
requests to open new banks in the country, a source at the bank stated to the military weekly on Thursday.Deputy Governor of the bank Mohammed al-Radi told the 26 September weekly that the bank was studying the requests to make sure that these banks meet international standards of opening banks and requirements of the central bank.The source said that the requests presented by Yemeni and Arab investors.Al-Radi expected growth for the banking sector in coming period, saying that the capital of the commercial banks working in Yemen reached YR 119 billion until last year.He added that there are 523 companies and stores of money exchange which have been registered by the bank across the country.
