National Center for Metrology Warns of Heavy Storms

The National Center for Metrology has issued a short-term forecast for the upcoming 24 hours, warning of a line of thunderstorms stretching the capital Sana’a and other provinces. Further, it added that a cloud of yellow dust is to hamper visibility in the capital City Sana'a.The statement warns of heavy rain, strong gusty winds and dangerous lightning. The showers and thunderstorms are moving southwest and are expected to hit other provinces including, Hadramout, Shabwah, Mareb, Sa’ada, and Al-Jawf over the next 24 hours.It also warned over air quality and bad visibility in mountainous areas."Heaviest thunderstorms are to record on the upcoming 24 hours and these storms are to hit some parts of the mountainous areas, especially in areas close to Jabal Al-Nabi Shuaib in the capital Sana'a," the National Center for Metrology has reported.Moreover, the center called on citizens residing in these provinces, particularly truck drivers to take the necessary precautions and not to directly expose themselves to the reduced horizontal visibility.Last month, clouds of dust were blown in from neighboring desert areas in the Empty Quarter and other countries in the Arab Peninsula. However, many chest patients suffered the complications due to heavy dust resulting from nonstop sandstorms.Ranchers found themselves facing a scheduling headache after the afternoon's work was washed out by the awful weather. Play eventually got under way due to the heavy sandstorm; however, there could be more serious disruption if the rains keep coming over the weekend.
