Hadhramaut supply committee approved to determine the price of bread of
all kinds by 150 Ryals (75 cents) for a kilogram of bread instead of
selling by a loaf. The decision will be effective next Saturday.
This came at the conclusion of its meeting held today under the chairmanship of Deputy governor and chairman of the Committee Mr Amir Mubarak Amir with bakery owners in the province.
The Committee stressed that it will organize field visits by the branch of the general standards and specifications and quality control committee, and representatives of the Office of the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the relevant committees to ensure compliance with the new price and to make the prosecution of offenders to the competent authorities for legal action. At the same time calling on citizens to report any breaches of the new pricing.
The Supply Committee had discussed in its meeting the work plan and the plan of the Standards in 2009 pertaining to field visits to insure compliance to specifications and to discuss a report on the prices traded in the market and another on the field visits to the local and automatic ovens and extent of its commitment and a report on the situation of gas supply.
emphasizing in this regard the opening of more branches in the city of Mukalla for the gas company in order to ensure stability of cooking gas supply to the citizens.
