Yemen, IFAD discuss cooperation in fish sector

Minister of Fisheries Wealth Fahad Kefayen and the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) representative in Yemen Fathya Bahran discussed on Tuesday the cooperation areas between the ministry and the Fund. During their meeting, Kefayen and Bahran reviewed the possible ways to activate the executive unit and steering committee of the fish investment project to overcome the difficulties and implement its components.
The meeting touched on the $ 11 million livelihood improvement project, which is funded by IFAD and targets the people living in the coastal areas and it is scheduled to start next year.
Kefayen stressed the importance of the IFAD support for the fish sector in Yemen, especially in field of the small projects and infrastructures in the coastal areas.
Bahran confirmed the Fund's readiness to support fisheries sector in Yemen, as a promising sector to improve the livelihood for the people of the coastal areas.
She said that the fund will make the project management an independent to speed up the project's completion.
