The Federation of Yemen Industry and Commerce Chambers has revealed preparations have got underway for the signing of a Yemeni-German project to classify the investment atmosphere in the country according to international standards. Director general of the federation Muhammad al-Maitami said the ministry of Planning and International Cooperation will sing in March a memorandum of understanding for the project that would be imlemented in collaboration with the Federation of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce. The project would be the second in the Middle East and aims to familiarize with investment standards and mechanisms in Yemen to adapt them to international standards in an effort to help the Yemeni government attract more capitals and to support local and foreign investors in the country, al-Maitami said. The project which would be executed in two years will include conducting studies and other field works which would be carried out by local and international experts. On the other hand, al-Maitami noted that the federation has completed all arrangements to update new units within an integrated project to develop its duties. Three new units including the small and medium industries unit, international trade unit and businesswomen unit have been launched, he said.
