President Ali Abdullah Saleh received on Wednesday the World Health Organization's Director of the Regional Office for East of Mediterranean Abdul-Razaq al-Jazaeri and chairman and members of the National Witnesses Committee.President Ali Abdullah Saleh received a report from the National Witnesses Committee over eradicating polio in Yemen. The report affirmed Yemen is free of polio. It also recorded great success the national vaccination campaigns have achieved for eradicating the disease.Chairman of the committee Ahmad al-Haddad indicated that the committee, since its establishment in 1996, has followed up exerted efforts for eradicating this malicious disease. He clarified that the committee is neutral formed upon WHO's recommendations.He clarified that the committee has got help from experts committees, composed of academics and highly qualified physicians. For his part, al-Jazaeri congratulated Yemen over this great achievement, indicating all exerted efforts by Yemen for fighting diseases and improving level of health services. He affirmed WHO's readiness for supporting Yemen's efforts in this field.President Saleh highlighted efforts exerted for eradicating polio and efforts of witnesses committee and experts for following up and valuating national campaigns for vaccination against this disease.He affirmed importance of continuing efforts of vaccination campaigns against diseases and epidemics for ensuring eradicating them. He indicated importance of early protection against these diseases. Sale highlighted existing cooperation between Yemen and WHO, affirming Yemen's keenness on enhancing this cooperation.
