Preparations got underway for a new national investment forum that
will be organized by the Yemeni Federation of Commerce and Industry
Chambers in collaboration with the GCC Federation of Commerce and
Industry Chambers. The forum will take place in October and
about 65 companies in the Gulf Cooperation Council as well as regional
and international commerce and industry chambers will take part in the
event. The forum will represent a push for the integration of
the Yemeni economy into the Gulf economies as there will be joint
investment projects with Gulf investors and companies, head of the
Commerce and Industry Chamber in the Secretariat Capital said. Muhammad
Salah said the public and private sector will coordinate with the Gulf
Federation of Commerce and Industry Chambers to establish common
investment projects under political leaderships of Yemen and the Gulf
States. Salah expects the forum will support the national
economy as international Commerce and Industry Federations including
the Chinese, the US, the Indian, the African and the Arab will
participate in it. Islamic banks and other regional and international interested corporations will take part as well, he said. A similar investment conference was held late last year in Mukala city with the theme ' Industry the Future of Yemen.' The conference came off as it was attended by many regional and international investors and businessmen and advisors. Former Malaysian Premier Mahatir Muhammad was among those who took part in the forum. He reviewed the Malaysian industrial experience.
