Deputy Minister of Social and Labor Affairs Ali Saleh Abdullah has said that the ministry had revoked the licenses of 1500 national organizations and associations. The revocations come as a prelude to refer these organizations and associations to judicial authorities to take legal action against them. Abdullah said these organizations and associations have committed violations linked to internal democracy as they have not held complete electoral rounds. Other violations are linked to organizational matters, lack of better training programs and activities, the absence of efficient planning as most of these organizations were ruled by fragile tribe and party doctrine. Abdullah said most of these organizations changed their main goals to easily commit illegal acts neglecting that civil society organizations are part of the development process in the country which are not authorities to incline to political parties interests. A regional symposium on the role of the civil society organizations in the fight against corruption is being held in Sana'a. About 35 participants from Arab states are taking part in the four-day event during which they must be learnt in the principles of good governance including accountability and transparency. The trainees would also be introduced to international and local tools of fighting corruption as well as how anti-corruption committees and staffs can create country anti-corruption networks. On the margins of the symposium a Sana'a-based regional anti-corruption network is to be announced.
