Yemen and Kuwait signed here on Sunday an agreement to fund the 3rd
stage of the Social Fund for Development (SFD) projects amounting to $
50 million. The agreement comes within Kuwait's intention to
fulfill its financial commitment to Yemen during the London Donor
Conference held in November 2006 which amounted to $ 200 million to
support development process in Yemen. The agreement was signed by Minister of Planning and International Cooperation
Abdul Karim al-Arhabi from the Yemeni side, while the Kuwaiti side was
represented by the Economic Advisor of the Kuwaiti Fund for Arab
Economic Development (KFAED) Tareq al-Menayes. After signing
the agreement, al-Arhabi praised the deep historical relations linked
the two countries, highlighting that both countries' leaderships are
keen on pushing the brotherly relations between the two countries
forward. Al-Menayes affirmed that the cooperation between Yemen and Kuwait would witness more progress in the coming years.
