Yemen, Egypt discuss cooperation in navigation, maritime transport

Transport Minister Waed Batheeb has discussed with his Egyptian counterpart Ibrahim Demeiri ways of activating joint cooperation between Yemen and Egypt in areas of navigation as well as maritime and land transport.
The meeting dealt with mechanisms to implement joint strategic projects in establishing a shipping company between Yemen and Egypt in addition to a shipping line linking the two countries' ports.
Possibility to benefit from the Egyptian experience in training and rehabilitation, as well as benefiting from the Egyptian experiments proven in the field of maritime and land transport was also touched upon in the meeting.
Batheeb welcomed the Egyptian companies specialized in transport area to invest in Yemen, confirming to offer the needed support to these companies.
In return, Demeiri showed his readiness to provide the overall support and assistance for Yemen in the logistics and maritime sides, affirming keenness to activate the joint agreements between Yemen and Egypt in the various transportations fields.
Meanwhile the Yemeni and Egyptian ministers co-chaired a Yemeni-Egyptian talk session and reviewed projects to be implemented between the two countries in fields of developing and operating ports as well as coordinating in fighting against piracy in the Red Sea, the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Aden.
Exchanging of information in field of maritime safety and security, and benefiting from the Egyptian experience in areas of investigations of marine accidents and voluntary auditing was also highlighted in the talks.
