Yemen, IFAD discuss cooperation in rural development

Minister of Agriculture and Irrigation Farid Majuwar met here on Monday with the country Director of International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in Rome Dr. Mohamed Abdel-Qader, who is currently visiting Yemen. The two sides discussed future cooperation prospects between Yemen and the Fund, especially in the rural development projects field and ways of enhancing bilateral relations so as to serve the common interests.
The meeting touched on the measures to start the implementation of the rural growth project in five Yemeni provinces at a cost of US$ 75 million.
Mujawar highly appreciated the role of the IFAD in supporting the development tracks ,especially in the agricultural field, considering the IFAD a key partner of Yemen in the agricultural development field.
He hoped for further support, cooperation and coordination in order to motivate donors to speed providing support to Yemen.
For his part, the IFAD's official confirmed the Fund's keenness and readiness to support Yemen's efforts in various fields.
He pointed out that the Fund gives the agricultural development in Yemen a considerable interest and would work to motivate donors to provide support in this aspect.
