President Hadi meets with NDI delegation

President Abdo Rabbo Mansour Hadi met on Wednesday with a delegation of the National Democratic Institute (NDI) led by Laura Nichols, NDI's resident country director in Yemen. During the meeting, President Hadi expressed his pleasure for the position that Yemeni women reach in various fields, adding that Yemenis put the supreme interest of the country above all other interests and solved problems through the national dialogue conference which lasted ten months in order to get Yemen out of its crisis that erupted in 2011.
“The national dialogue came to implement the GCC-brokered initiative and its executive mechanism, in this dialogue Yemenis could address all the country’s problems, the national dialogue produced a national document which includes several decisions and recommendation,” the President told the delegation.
He also talked about the difficulties faced the dialogue during the first months and then those challenges had vanished during the discussions.
The President also noted to the recommendations produced by the NDC’s members based on the good governance, and participation in responsibility, power and wealth on the basis of a six-region federal system.
Hadi went on to say “Under the new form of the state, regions will help enhance security and stability in order to create job opportunities and to achieve what has not been done by the central state over the past fifty years of basic requirements and citizens’ needs for health, education, water, electricity and roads”.
He stressed that the NDC outcomes give 30 percent for women and 20 percent for youth, saying that women and youths are the ones who took benefit of the national dialogue.
Moreover, the President said that the mini-governments in each region will be tasked with the matter of development and not related to the interior and foreign policy.
